A weekend of community events honour Cornwall's foremost saint - St. Piran

For the past ten years GOL SEN PIRAN has been a fund-raising event for Perranzabuloe Folk Museum. Featuring local entertainers, it is an evening music, dance and drama with a faith supper (bring a plate of food to share and have faith that all will do the same) Tickets £4  (4th March7.30pm Ponsmere Hotel)

The focal point of the WELCOME is the arrival of the figure of St Piran on the beach at Perranporth. He is then paraded through the streets being welcomed by larger than life characters on the way. The event ends with a barbeque on the Inner Green. Organised by the Community Education Project, the statue was made in 2004 by parents at Perranporth School.  (5th March 6.00pm Promenade)

Over the centuries many pilgrims have visited the site of St Piran's Oratory in the towans at Perran Sands. Now on the nearest Sunday to his special day, 5th March, hundreds and thousands of people come from all over Cornwall and beyond to remeber and honour a great man of Cornwall. As part of the pilgrimage THE ST PIRAN PLAY, depicting the legend of St Piran and his influence on Cornwall today, is performed by people from the community of Perranzabuloe.    (6th March 2.00pm St Piran's Oratory- meet at Perran Sands Holiday Park)
